It is that time of year again when we give thanks and hopefully celebrate with our loved ones. I was giving some thought to those things for which I am grateful, but it dawned on me that I am extremely grateful for several things that I do not have. For example, I am thankful that I do not have the extra fifteen pounds that were with me two years ago. I am thankful for the anger I gave up related to a job situation long in my past. I am thankful that certain family crises and struggles have gone away and resolved. Getting rid of all of those things took effort, friends and family, professionals, faith, luck, and time. I am thankful for all of that. I do my best to replace them with good in my life going forward wherever I can. I think in many ways our local nonprofits help people to get rid of what they do not need (abuse, stress, injury, ignorance) and replace it with good things (education, peace, confidence, hope). Thank you for supporting us to help make this happen for people in our community. We are thankful for you. |
