Women’s Resource Center

The Women’s Resource Center advocates for the personal empowerment and economic self-sufficiency of women and girls in La Plata County. We connect those in need and those who strive to better themselves, to resources in our community that will help them overcome personal, financial and emotional hurdles and thrive.

How the money will be used

The money will be used to assist our community members with resources, 5 days a week, such as, emergency shelter, food, housing, employment, financial, legal, educational, and coaching.

How will it make a difference

It allows women in our region to get back on their feet, back into housing, back into safety, and back to the job market to lead more productive lives benefitting the community as a whole!

What we accomplished over this past year

We provided 1,389 clients, of whom 34% were single parents and 96% were low to extremely low income, with 1900 resources in our community. These resources empowered them to overcome barriers and assisted them on their journey to self-sufficiency. We’ve seen clients go from being homeless to accessing resources for affordable housing, food, job and resume building, and emergency financial assistance which allows them to transition into productive members of our community.
