Our Approach

Strategy #1

Provide skills-building workshops across the county to support parents and caregivers in helping foster positive mental wellbeing for our youth.

Key Actions

Two three-part workshop series coordinated in La Plata County; one in Bayfield and one in Ignacio during the Spring of 2024.

This school year we are planning to host 11 parent workshops; expanding to Durango and offering two in Spanish!

Strategy #2

Increase awareness of and participation in mental health related trainings by youth-serving professionals

Key Actions

Created a directory outlining local, regional, statewide, and national training resources that address root causes of mental health issues, crisis intervention, and how to support youth and peers who may be struggling with mental health.

Maintains a calendar of upcoming trainings to increase local participation among youth-serving professionals

HOW TO: This resource outlines key details about a variety of trainings surrounding mental health. Users can use the “filter” function at the top to sort by a variety of “conditions”, which you can set as required or optional. The “tag” field covers general topics, the “location” tab allows you to sort by community, the “duration” tab can set length limits, and more.
